Product meetup presentation about internal tools and customer-facing products

I feel embarrassed to be so late to all things AI.
Yes, I've already used Claude Code to build a product and Codex to port a fairly large website to a new engine. But I see people mastering AI at a completely different level.

In this talk, I joked: “Ask ChatGPT to improve your product for 20 years.”
Now I'm not sure it's a good joke. The timeline to deliver and improve digital products is shrinking fast...

But I still stand by one thing I said that day: distribution wins.

11ty meetup presentation about full-text search

Custom, fast, and serverless

Most people reach for tools like Algolia or Pagefind when adding search to static sites. I didn’t — for nerdy reasons. In this talk, I’ll walk you through how I navigated the solution space and what it took to build something custom. No servers, no third-party services, and no bloated dependencies. Just fast, client-side search that feels right. You might leave inspired to build your own—or confident that you never want to. 😄

Antithesis POC website update

This time, we wanted to show something eye-catching and offer new CTA buttons to click. The warp speed effect was done purely with CSS – no JavaScript at all. Later, I learned that the Nova page had a much cooler implementation of it (hover the main CTA there).

BugBash 2025 website

At Antithesis, we decided to organize a conference with just 4 months to prepare after locking the venue – enough time to get everything ready for 200 attendees. Given the tight timeline, I opted to build the website without bundlers, using just a single HTML/CSS page with no JavaScript required (except optionally for the petals effect).

Zulip sidebar design and prototype

The code is open

This was an interesting challenge and an example of where Figma has its limits. There were many design iterations for the sidebars of the web app, and here is a video showcasing the somewhat finalized prototype before Zulip entered the implementation phase.

Antithesis out of stealth website

We were coming out of stealth, so it was a big deal to showcase something cool and attention-worthy about our nerdy testing platform. We even hit #1 on Hacker News for a day!

Since we were iterating a lot on the general slides, creating a video wasn’t an option. Instead, I coded the entire animation with GSAP. The best part was that it was responsive, switching between horizontal for desktop and vertical for mobile.

I hope the Wayback Machine stores it for a long time (including running away button joke), but anyway, here’s the recording:

Reflecting on the past year

And thinking about next

Antithesis was my main job, the most challenging thing I developed was the virtually scrollable component to print arbitrary sequences of data with unknown height in cells of our reactive notebook. It would be great to use react-window but our requirements and goals behind such component forced me to create everything from scratch. Unfortunately I can't share more at this point. I hope in 2024 I could show more of my work at Antithesis as product designer/developer/manager.

For Zulip I did:

  • Designing the first version of the new mobile app, which I plan to refine and enhance in 2024.
  • Developing various design proposals and interactive prototypes for integration into the web app, including the compose box, sidebars, banners, menus, and the image viewer.
  • UX/UI design of smaller features which were integrated in Zulip release
  • Couple of marketing pages, examples of which are showcased here.

Zulip home page design and prototype

The code is open (html, css, js)

Zulip sought to revamp their homepage, prompting me to create an innovative design. As a self-imposed challenge, I successfully achieved 99% functionality without relying on JavaScript. The design includes automatic toggling between light and dark themes, responsiveness, and image optimization features that auto-detect the appropriate resolution and format for images.

The new website, a single page rich with crucial links and an engaging explainer video. Improvement to Blueprint JS

I've symbolized blueprint's .sketch library

Blueprint is a React-based UI toolkit for the web. But there were no components in Blueprint's .sketch file. Sketch allow reusing elements easily (place, resize, and change properties). So I "symbolized" (made reusable components) of all elements inside this great library for designers and developers.

Made 3d cartoon in Blender v1.6

I'm not 100% sure about the exact version of Blender 😄

Unfortunately, I don't have the cartoon rendered. What I do remember is that it was the best among my peers. It was a summer camp with access to computers, where we were taught programming in C (which I didn't enjoy much at the time) and 3D modeling in Blender (which I absolutely loved).

While the other kids in class created what was asked – 'Make a 3D scene and fly through it with a camera' – I used multiple cameras and incorporated slow motion. After watching The Matrix and playing Max Payne, I thought slow motion was the coolest effect I could pull off. My animation was about a snowboarder, even though I had never snowboarded at that time.
